About The Luc Gates Memorial Scholarship

The Scholarship

The Luc Gates Foundation is proud to offer this scholarship to select students that personify the respectful, selfless and leadership traits that Luc exhibited throughout his life. While academic achievements are important, we encourage all students to apply as this scholarship is awarded to individuals committed to sportsmanship, honor and respect to themselves, their families and their community.

The Luc Gates Foundation awards four scholarships to seniors graduating from Franklin County high schools that are pursuing a degree at a two or four year college or university. Two scholarships will be awarded to students graduating from Enosburg Falls High School (one male and one female). The two remaining scholarships will be awarded to deserving applicants from the following schools:

  • Richford Jr. / Sr. High School
  • Missisquoi Valley Union High School
  • Bellows Free Academy of St. Albans
  • Bellows Free Academy of Fairfax

Each scholarship awarded will be in the amount of $1,000.00 per 4 year school or $ 500.00 per 2 year school. The awarded amount and time line is as follows:

  • $ 250.00 – Issued at the end of the first semester
  • $ 250.00 – Beginning of the second year
  • $ 250.00 – Beginning of the third year
  • $ 250.00 – Beginning of the fourth year

To maintain their respective scholarships, recipients are required to meet the following criteria:

  • *** 2.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • *** A valid grade report issued by college or university Office of The Registrar must be submitted to the scholarship committee before each installment is awarded.

To apply for the Luc Gates Memorial Scholarship please download and mail the 2-page application, along with your high school transcript and two letters of recommendation (one of which must be a source other than a teacher or school administrator), to the:

All applications must be received by April 15th. The Scholarship Committee will begin screening and selected finalists will be notified of interview dates.
